Driving collaboration between the European Union and the Republic of Korea

Last week marked a significant step forward for INSTAR Standards, an initiative we proudly coordinate. We celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Korea and the European Union. This agreement strengthens the commitment between two regions dedicated to driving innovation and advancing technology standards in areas such as AI, 6G, cybersecurity, data tech, IoT, and quantum technologies.

This development reinforces the collaborative spirit between Korea and the EU, promising a future full of exciting opportunities as we work together to address shared digital challenges.

Our role in the partnership

As coordinators of the INSTAR project, we had the honour of signing this Memorandum of Understanding with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to support a robust Digital Partnership between the EU and Korea. The signing ceremony took place in the historic Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid, hosted by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid.

The aim of the partnership

This collaboration seeks to establish a high-level roadmap for standards across these critical technology areas. By aligning international standardisation efforts, we are working to create a unified framework that will strengthen the EU-Korea Digital Partnership, paving the way for a more connected and resilient technological ecosystem.

Event Highlights

The session kicked off with a presentation from Ayuntamiento de Madrid, offering a strategic overview of the city’s digital vision and introducing IoTMADLAB. Following this, we had insightful presentations on INSTAR’s international task forces and TTA’s evolving ICT standardisation roadmap.

The event culminated in a roundtable discussion where key priorities, goals, and alignment strategies were discussed, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Participants shared insights into how we can enhance collaboration, drive meaningful impact, and promote international harmonization of standards.

Stay tuned as we continue to advance these important initiatives and strengthen digital connections across borders!
