Supporting corporate venturing

The Brief

ESB´s corporate venture runs structured corporate incubation programmes annually through which zero-carbon ideas are explored; projects may receive further funding to move to experimentation and, if successful, are put forward for commercialisation – spin in/out etc.​

ESB required a comprehensive advisory service to support projects along this journey; identifying those that are aligned with the company’s mission, have the greatest potential to scale and can maximise the potential economic and social return to ESB.

Our Solution

BluSpecs is ESB’s strategic innovation and corporate venturing partner, working alongside multiple teams in ESB for the 2023-26 period, delivering:​

• Ideation to enable the generation of new venture ideas (ideation) and prioritisation​
• Venture building support to transition new business ideas from concept stage to investor ready proposition status including support to define the USP business modelling, tech roadmaps, and assess product-market fit​
• Partner identification and curation of critical relationships​
• Support to build the narrative to engage internal stakeholders and secure board sponsorship of the ventures as they advance.​

Results

Results are under NDA but we are currently supporting 3 scalable solutions at TRLs 3-7 across multiple field including Mobility, Energy Generation and Subsea infrastructures
