Blockchain and advanced technologies competition

The Brief

The City of Madrid wanted to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies by businesses and attract tech startups to the establish a base in the City. They launched the “Blockchain and advanced technology prizes” to identify best-in-class solutions across 12 categories including; Energy. DLTS and Smart contracts, Buildings, Universal ID and the Metaverse for Cities.

They sought external assistance from experts with the technical knowledge necessary to design and implement a robust evaluation system for selecting winners in each category.

Our Solution

We created an assessment framework with 16 variables to enable consistent criterion to be applied. A detailed two-stage process was designed to evaluate all applications on the basis of this criteria.

We onboarded 5 external jury members from leading corporates with domain expertise in the technologies being evaluated and briefed them on the criteria and evaluation process.

We reviewed all candidates, conducted the due diligence to ensure they met the eligibility criteria, analysed the state-of-the-art to ensure technical and commercial feasibility and shortlisted 34. These were then presented to the panel who scored them against the defined criteria. The winners were then notified and invited to a final award ceremony.
